Antioch Park is Johnson County Park & Recreation District's oldest park. The forty four acre park features new or updated amenities such as two fishing lakes, walking path, tennis courts, picnic shelters, basketball courts, restrooms, playground, paved parking, and cook out grills. Antioch Park has remained one of JCPRD's most popular park, attracting up to 700,000 visitors each year.

One of Merriam's busiest and most beautiful parks, named for John Chatlain who served as a Merriam City Council member for 31 years. This park provides an access point to the Turkey Creek Streamway Trail. Amenities include: paved parking, walking path, picnic tables, grills, playground equipment, and a picnic shelter available for rent.

Located in a renovated, historic school building, the Irene B. French Community Center is a 33,000 square foot facility and the home of the majority of the Merriam Parks and Recreation programs. The facilities include: a gymnasium, game room with pool table, fooseball , ping-pong and big screen television, and fitness center with cardiovascular and strength training equipment. Approximately 4.1 miles of paved, multi-use trail, running from 75th Street to Antioch Road. The trail route follows the path of Turkey Creek and passes through wooded areas, a butterfly garden, and several parks. Paved parking and access points provided at 75th Street entrance, Chatlain Park, Campbell Park, Merriam Marketplace, Werner Park, and Waterfall Park.

Geocaching is a high-tech treasure hunting game played throughout the world by adventure seekers equipped with GPS devices.
